Frequently Asked Questions
How can 20 minutes replace a full workout?
What is EMS?
EMS is a guided strength session where you wear a specialised dry suit that gently activates your muscles while you perform simple movements with a coach.
You’re not doing complicated exercises or a workout class. The movements are slow and supported, the suit simply helps your muscles engage more effectively than they usually would.
Does it hurt?
No.
The sensation feels unusual at first – a gentle pulsing or buzzing – but it shouldn’t be painful. The intensity is adjusted throughout the session and you are always in control.
Most people relax within a few minutes and by the end are chatting quite happily.
Will I feel embarrassed wearing the suit?
Not at all.
Sessions are private and calm.
Nothing is on display and you won’t be exercising in front of other people.
Almost everyone arrives slightly unsure and leaves wondering why they worried!
Is it safe?
Yes.
Sessions are fully supervised and the intensity is carefully controlled the entire time. We also screen for any medical considerations during your initial consultation.
Your comfort and safety is always our priority.
Is it suitable during perimenopause or menopause?
Yes, this is actually one of the main reasons people come.
Strength training becomes especially important at this stage of life for muscle, bone health, posture, metabolism and energy. EMS allows you to do this in a controlled, joint friendly way without long gym sessions or heavy weights.
We adjust sessions week to week depending on how you’re feeling.
Do I need to be fit first?
Definitely not!
Many people come because they don’t feel fit right now or normal exercise has started to feel harder. Everything is adapted to you and we start gently.
You won’t be expected to keep up with anyone or push through discomfort.
I have injuries or joint pain - can I still do it?
Often yes.
Because the movements are low impact and controlled, many people who struggle with knees, hips, backs or shoulders find this much more manageable than normal exercise.
We talk everything through at the consultation first so we can decide if it’s appropriate for you.
