Your First EMS Session: Exactly What Will Happen (So you don’t need to worry)

blog6

Trying anything new is uncomfortable.

Most people don’t worry about whether EMS works.
They worry about walking into a situation they don’t understand.

Will it hurt?
Will I be pushed too hard?
Will I feel embarrassed?

At Power & Peace, your first session is designed to be calm, guided and reassuring. Nothing is rushed and nothing is forced.

Here is exactly what happens.

Before you arrive

You don’t need to:
 • get fit first
 • diet beforehand
 • watch tutorials
 • know any exercises

You are not expected to perform.

You are coming to be guided.

Try to:
 • drink some water
 • eat a light meal 1–3 hours before

(Training completely fasted is not ideal for EMS)

What to wear

You simply bring:

  • comfortable clothes to arrive in
    • trainers
    • a positive amount of curiosity 🙂

We provide the specialist EMS suit.

There is no changing room panic and no gym culture pressure.

Step 1 - A conversation

Your first session actually starts with a call.

We talk about:
 • your goals
 • any injuries
 • medical history
 • previous exercise experience
 • how you feel about exercise generally

This is important, because the session is built around you.

You are not fitting into a programme. The programme fits you.

Step 2 - The suit

The EMS suit might look intimidating before you try it.

In reality, it feels like wearing slightly structured sportswear.

The suit is gently fitted to you. Not tight or uncomfortable.

You are attached to the device and nothing happens straight away.

We always begin slowly.

Step 3 - Feeling the sensation

Before any exercise, we let you feel the sensation standing still.

The first pulse comes on very gently.

People usually react one of three ways:

  • laugh
    • look surprised
    • say “oh… that’s not what I expected”

It feels like a muscle tightening or a vibration, not a shock.

We adjust each muscle group individually and you tell us what feels comfortable. You remain in control the entire time.

Step 4 - The movements

Now the session begins.

Important:

This is not a bootcamp.

Movements are slow and simple:
 • squats
 • gentle presses
 • core activation
 • posture work

The suit activates muscles while you move, which makes small movements surprisingly effective.

You will not be asked to perform complicated exercises.

What it actually feels like

Clients commonly say:

“It’s harder than I expected… but nicer than I expected.”

The effort is muscular, not breathless.
You won’t feel exhausted or overwhelmed.

Many people feel more focused and calm afterwards rather than depleted.

How long it lasts

The active training time is about 20 minutes.

There are short rest phases between muscle activations, so you are never continuously working.

Afterwards we:
 • gradually bring intensity down
 • remove the suit
 • encourage hydration

After the session

Immediately after:
You often feel energised and strong.

Later that day:
You may feel pleasantly tired.

The next day:
You may feel muscle soreness similar to starting a new gym programme, completely normal and actually a sign muscles have been activated.

You should not feel ill or in pain.

The most common reaction

Almost everyone says the same thing:

“I was worried for no reason.”

The fear comes from not knowing what it is.

Once experienced, it feels structured, safe and surprisingly enjoyable.

Final reassurance

You are not expected to be fit, coordinated or confident.

You are just expected to show up!

We start gently, progress gradually and support you throughout.

No pressure.
No judgement.
No gym intimidation.

Just a guided strength session designed around you.

Still unsure?
